The mystery continues

I finally got around to installing Plymouth, which allows custom splash screens when booting and shutting down. To get a smooth transition from the splash to GDM, I had to switch to a fork called gdm-plymouth. Upon doing this, I discovered that my number lock was disabled upon logging in, which came to me as a shock considering my previous post on the topic. As it turns out, I just had to re-disable Wayland in the new GDM configuration file, as I had done previously. I still don’t know exactly what’s allowing num lock to be enabled in the first place, but it’s definitely not directly in the GDM settings.
